Several benefits can be obtained in electric power system with the help of micro grid particularly in reliability aspects. But the major challenge in micro grid is the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources and operating conditions of components since most of the components used are power electronic which are very sensitive. However random behavior of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) can be overcome by using Energy Storage System (ESS). The main aim of this work is to investigate the reliability of micro grid consisting of Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) system with and without ESS by considering operating conditions of components of the system using Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS). Operating conditions of a component depend on its failure rate and repair rate. The proposed work has been implemented on Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF) 161.72 kW Photovoltaic power plant and 61.2 kW wind turbine system connected to a load of 220 kW.
