Bifacial solar panels are a recent advancement in the field of photovoltaics. The power generated by bifacial photovoltaic modules is from both their sides. Compared to monofacial solar panels, which are usually opaque back sheets, bifacial modules expose the backside and front of the solar panels. Compared to traditional solar panels, bifacial modules are more efficient and provide a higher total energy output. They are also more durable due to their dual sides' UV resistance. In addition, having a smaller footprint allows them to produce more power, which lowers the BOS costs. Furthermore, the reliability performance of the solar inverter is of major concern. Solar inverter is the unreliable component in the solar PV system. Hence in this paper reliability-oriented performance evaluation of solar inverter is proposed. A test case of 3 kW solar PV inverter system is considered. One-year mission profile is logged at Hyderabad for evaluation. The test case is implemented in PLECS Simulink platform. B 10 lifetime is calculated. Finally, comparison analysis is presented between monofaical and bifacial panels. From the results it is observed that the bifacial panels impact the reliability performance of solar inverter significantly.
