Multi-rotor UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has great advantages and application prospects in substation inspection due to its advantages of flexible movement and compact body. In order to solve the problem of determining the safety distance for UAV inspection in substations, the typical model Matrice 300 RTK is selected as the research object. Based on the electric field tolerance of UAV and the breakdown voltage of typical rod-plane gap, electromagnetic field simulation software is used to conduct electric field simulation research on the insulation level of the gap of typical 110 kV equipment inspected by UAV. The critical breakdown distance of the gap between UAV and equipment under different approaches and directions is less than 9 cm, which can provide reference for substation UAV inspection distance control and path planning.
