As new energy sources play an increasingly important role in the energy supply system and control the development of power semiconductor devices, a wide variety of power semiconductor devices have become an integral part of industrial, consumer and scientific research. Modular multilevel converter (MMC) has the characteristics of small switching loss and low output voltage harmonic distortion wind, so the IGBT combination of MMC sub-module has a bright future in new energy applications. Because of the excellent switching characteristics of IGBTs, they are becoming dominant in high-power applications. In this paper, the driving circuit of each sub-module of MMC is studied, focusing on the IGBT driving strategy and protection circuit, and finally the driving mechanism and protection circuit are experimentally verified.
