In this paper, near-field electromagnetic scattering properties of arbitrary targets by vortex wave is investigated. The vortex wave scattering model is constructed and a scattering parameter named echo dominant-mode ratio(EDMR) is proposed based on spectral analysis theory. Simulation results show that echo dominant-mode ratio have advantages over traditional radar cross section(RCS) for detecting typical objects such as PEC sphere and cube.
