Hard disc following control schemes were examined in terms of CPU execution time and memory usage. The continuous responses of a hard disc head arm mechanism and the discrete behavior of a microcontroller were co-simulated. Microcontrollers were implemented in a virtual physical system. The analysis helps with choosing an appropriate microcontroller for a particular application.
