This paper presents a unique design approach of frequency domain based chipless radio frequency identification (CRFID) tags. A miniaturized square-split-ring is systematically loaded with circular-slots through an iterative procedure. Hence, a number of miniaturized resonators are produced which can be arranged in different configurations to realize multiple chipless tags operating at different frequency bands. This design approach provides a great control and flexibility in designing chipless RFID tags with different bit capacities. The proposed chipless tags are fabricated by printing the resonating elements on both front and back sides of the dielectric substrate hence doubling the capacity of the tags. All the tags are tested and measured.
