The fundamental of equalization-enhanced phase noise (EEPN) jointly with the DSP impact is investigated, using an approach based on frequency-band segmentation of the frequency-noise (FN) spectrum. This approach enables to study the EEPN penalty of different FN spectral regions and correlated with its bursty nature.
