Electron accelerator-based light sources to study dynamic processes in materials science and life sciences rely on short pulse generation originating from picosecond long to femtoseconds short electron bunch structures. Terahertz and electro-optical diagnostics is an ideal tool to investigate these electron beams and their emitted photons with the potential to devise methods for controlled and tailored radiation emission. Advances in information and communications technology promise compact sensors based on industry standards. We have manufactured LiNbO 3 -based modulators to evaluate their potential for THz and laser-based diagnostics at accelerators.
