This paper presents substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter with dual-passband characteristics. The dominant mode TE101 and the first higher-order mode TE102 of the SIW cavity are used to constitute the passbands. The desired bandwidths of the two passbands are obtained by realizing the appropriate couplings of the two modes. In addition, a slot is placed at the middle of the cavity to control the resonant frequency of TE102 mode, and the two passbands are located at the desired frequency points. The filter is fabricated to validate the proposed approach, and a reasonable agreement is obtained between the simulation and measurement results.
