The continuous evolution of the railway signal system towards digitization, networking, automation, and intelligence has generated a pressing need for new train control systems to enhance the intelligence level of the railway industry. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the development and changes in the existing signal system. It introduces the working principle of a train operation control system based on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication and highlights the main characteristics of two key concepts: ‘Train-Ground Integration’ and ‘Train-Centric’ within the technical scheme. Furthermore, this study elucidates the promotion scheme for the Train Autonomous Control System (TACS), specifically focusing on the virtual coupling platoon.
