The geometric structure and electromagnetic (EM) scattering of coastal waves is discussed in this paper. With the slope and water depth changes, the geometric structure of waves also changes, which indirectly leads to the various of EM scattering characteristics of shallow water waves. The EM calculation method of ocean wave is based on the IEM model. The EM simulation results of sea surface affected by different slope topography are analyzed. It is revealed that the EM scattering characteristics of coastal waters are different from those of deep waters. The smaller the topography slope, the greater the shoal modulation effect. The study in this paper will be helpful to further research on the physical mechanism of nearshore breaking wave and the prediction of seabed topography distribution.
