The actively commutation converter (ACC) has been regarded as one of many interesting circuit topologies in high-power systems. In this article, unit power factor operation control method of ACC with switching frequency of 50Hz is proposed. A 500 kV/400 MW back-to-back HVDC transmission-based ACC is built using PSCAD/EMTDC software to verify the correctness of the unit power factor operation control method.
