A novel frequency selective surface structure (FSSs) for 5G applications with low in-band insertion loss (IL) has been presented. To improve the performance of the FSS especially in low in-band insertion loss, a multi-layer FSS structure is adopted to form a 2nd-order filter full-wave simulation results demonstrate that the proposed FSS has a wide-band response and very low in-band insertion loss under a large variety of the incident angles. 0 to 60 degrees, the maximum of average in-band insertion loss is only −0.78dB/GHz in TE and TM polarization These results demonstrate that the proposed FSS is a good candidate for 5G applications.
