Ice thermal energy storage (ITES) is utilized globally for shifting demand and peak shaving which are valuable for reducing stress on the grid during high temperatures. However, there are very few ITES projects in the Portland, Oregon, area. Due to the moderate climate, studies on ITES from hotter regions are not a reliable indicator of performance in Portland. This project modeled a local client with scenarios based on current and potential local utility rate structures and incentives. Annual energy savings ranged from −6.2% to 17.8% with a maximum peak demand shift range of 158 kW to 476 kW. The customer annual utility cost savings reached as high as ${\$}$56,592 with a simple payback range from 2.9 years to 58.9 years or none. Notwithstanding economic feasibility was dependent on the proposed utility rates and incentives, ITES has potential to benefit the grid and customers in Portland and similar climates.
