We developed an external lens-free transceiver with a high optical coupling efficiency and a large alignment tolerance using a 1.3-µm lens-integrated surface-emitting laser diode and a lens-integrated Photo diode. 25 Gbit/s error-free 3-m multi-mode fiber (MMF) transmission was successfully demonstrated.
