The article researches the problems of improving the education process through the use of the new state-of-the-art learning technologies, in particular the combination of 3D modeling and virtual reality technologies, the general gamification of the process. It shows that the combination of these technologies gives positive results, improves learning efficiency, simplifies and speeds up the perception of material, and improves its memorability. The example of the practical application of the virtual reality projects realized in the Centre for Science and Education "Ecology of Power Engineering" of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute is shown.
