Demand Side Management is the promising technique which involves consumer participation to achieve peak shaving. Advanced Metering Infrastructure, a demand side management system comprises smart meter, data management and communication network that enables two-way interaction between the utilities and the customers. Though many research works focus on Advanced Metering Infrastructure, majority of the works are implemented through simulation. Hence, the proposed work aims to implement an advanced metering infrastructure using hardware. The voltage and current consumed by the electrical loads are sensed by the voltage and current sensors respectively. The rms voltage, rms current, power factor, power and energy for the loads are obtained at fixed sampling rate using Arduino Mega2650. Further, the data from Arduino Mega2650 is transmitted through Wi-Fi modem wirelessly to the Raspberry pi4. Similarly, the data from other smart meters are also collected at edge device and aggregation operation such as average energy consumption per house hold is computed and transmitted to a local server or remote server. The data acquisition and processing is implemented through MATLAB - Simulink and data visualization in remote server is through Thingspeak and customized Internet of Things platform
