This work investigates the potential application of High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) in DC Shipboard Power System, focusing on power distribution, fault current limiters, and energy storage. It highlights the limitations of traditional electrical systems on board ships and introduces the properties of HTS materials, including their ability to carry large currents without any resistance. The advantages and challenges of integrating HTS cables, fault current limiters, and energy storage systems are explored, considering factors such as cost, reliability, and safety. The paper addresses practical considerations such as thermal management and emphasizes the potential benefits of HTS technology in enhancing efficiency. The analysis includes estimating the weights and volumes of superconducting MgB 2 cables and matching the cooling system to meet the required performance.
