This paper presents the design, analysis, fabrication and testing of inductors having different core geometries and their effects in a SiC-based synchronous DC-DC converter @30 W, 200 kHz. The parasitic effects and AC resistance have been duly taken into consideration while modeling the inductors. The different losses have been analytically calculated for all the inductors and then verified experimentally. A comparative study is then presented for all the inductors regarding their high frequency behaviour. Standard FEM-based software packages have been used to simulate the inductors. The thermal studies have been carried out also for all the cases. Excellent agreement between the simulated and experimental results uphold the accuracy of the analysis and the precision of the experiments.
