The characteristic mode (CM) method can reduce the unknowns by expanding the surface current of the target with a set of CMs as the global basis functions. Combining the broadband CM method and Method of Moment (MoM) with the monostatic/bistatic approximation method, the monostatic radar cross section (RCS) can be calculated approximately by the adjacent incident and viewing angles, which breaks the limit of calculating only one monostatic RCS in per iteration. Thus, the number and time consumption of the iteration can be greatly decreased. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of this method while analyzing the monostatic problem of the target.
