Narrow pulse generation is a key technology in Ultrawideband communication systems, and different applications have different requirements for pulse generation. This paper analyzes several conventional Ultra-wideband narrow pulse generation methods in Ultra-wideband indoor positioning systems. Their advantages, disadvantages and the existing problems are discussed. And on this basis, this paper presents a pulse generator which is based on the logic features of the digital circuit firstly. Through the analysis of simulation results, we propose a novel Ultra-wideband narrow pulse generation method which is based on dual NOT gates structure. The simulation results show that pulse repetition frequency obtained by using the method is 10MHz, and the duration time is 150ps. Compared with the first design of circuit, not only the spectrum meet FCC spectral mask for ultra-wideband system. But also the obtained pulse width is narrower than dozen times and higher positioning accuracy. And the requirement for the devices is not high. Moreover, this method can strictly restrain the trailing and jitter phenomenon of previous methods.
