This paper aims at gathering several new applications which were made possible by the joint use of a spectral element method and high performance computing. This time-domain full-wave numerical method which lends itself very well on parallel computers makes it possible to solve numerical problems which were not solvable before. Several examples of its use in various contexts in underwater acoustics will be presented and discussed.
