This paper presents a magnetoelectric energy harvester for extracting vibrational energy. A prototype, which is made of piezoelectric cantilever, magnetostrictive thin film, and spiral structures, is designed and tested. This device combine stress caused by vibration and magnetostrictive effect to generate more electricity. The experiment results indicated that the prototype can generate a power of 2.96 µW at a resonant frequency of 164 Hz. Compared to a pure PZT cantilever, the proposed energy harvester can scavenge energy from multiple frequency bandwidths and has enhanced output power.
