Wet clutches are often used to transmit torque when the clutch is fully engaged. But the continuously variable torque in the engaging process can also be used to realize flexible speed control instead of controlling the original torque at the drive end of the clutch, especially when large torque is needed. Present paper establishes a short-time speed control system using a wet clutch. The whole model of the system is setup on the intelligent simulation package AMESim. A control method based on the pressure sensor and time delay is raised up to get the smooth speed curve when the phase changes in the engagement process. The principle of the hydraulic system and the control method are tested by the model and the result is good.
