The dimension of time in software appears in bothprogram execution and software evolution. Much research hasbeen devoted to the understanding of either program executionor software evolution, but these two research communities havedeveloped tools and solutions exclusively in their respectivecontext. In this paper, we claim that a common comprehensionframework should apply to the time dimension of software. Weformalize this as a meta-model that we instantiate and apply tothe two different comprehension problems.
