Automobile coatings are an excellent example of cutting-edge technology that can provide long-lasting surfaces, satisfy customers’ expectations for design, maximize efficiency, and adhere to environmental requirements. These successes are the result of a century’s worth of experience, investigation methods, technological and methodological developments, and theoretical evaluations. Thin coatings are used in the automotive sector to save both resources and the environment. This is accomplished by lightening the weight of construction materials now in use, extending their useful lives, and raising the manufacturing standards for the materials as a result. In this chapter, automotive thin-layer coating has been described with the focus on specific functions of each layer. State-of-the-art automotive coating procedures have also been explained herewith.
