Congenital choledochal cyst in children is not uncommon.Since 1974,excision of the cyst and re-establishment of bile drainage by Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy has been successfully performed in 31 children aged from 6 months to 13 years. The cysts of the reported cases were all distended to the right and 1eft hepatic ducts. The volume of the smallest cyst was 300 ml while that of the largest was 2,500 ml.Of the 21 cases followed up for 1-7 years,18 exhibit satisfactory results.Cyst excision proves better than the traditional procedure of internal drainage.
