Undergraduate mentorship system is a novel talent-training mode that has emerged recently, which has been implemented in many domestic universities and achieved good results, but also revealed a lot of problems. Combined with personal practical experience, this paper probes into the implementation path of undergraduate mentorship system in the cultivation of applied talents’ innovative ability, analyzes the problems such as the imperfect system, the high ratio of students to teachers, the uneven level of students and the different levels of tutors, and puts forward some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, in order to provide a useful reference for the optimization and promotion of the system.
