An ultrasonic velocity measurement is used to monitor the percentage of C 4 F 10 on-line in the Forward RICH of DELPHI with a precision of better than 1%. The value is displayed in real time by a micro-computer. The sound velocity in pure C 4 F 10 at 25.00 ± 0.25°C has been measured to be 101.1 ± 0.1 ms −1 .
