Design of a microstrip patch antenna for Ku-band applications is developed. The antenna consists of separate segments and is located in a rectangular radar dome with a small height. Doppler lag without phase shifters creates the main beam of the radiation pattern at a given angle. It receives signals reflected from the sea surface in each beam with strong spatial separation for estimating the sea state and measuring of vessel speed. Results of theoretical calculation and experimental measurement of the radiation pattern are given. The advantages of the developed antenna system – the stability of the given angle of the main beam in different temperature conditions, lightweight and low cost of production.
