Children under international protection are an integral part of Croatian education but their specific needs or difficulties and challenges are rarely addressed. The aim of the research is to gain insight into the experience of educating children under international protection in secondary schools in Croatia, in order to raise public awareness on this topic and take responsibility for creating functional and quality education for children under international protection in Croatia. In interviews with children under international protection who attend secondary schools in Croatia, the problems in the field of learning the Croatian language and experience with teachers were most highlighted. This paper appeals to a holistic approach to the education of children under international protection, with particular sensitivity to their specific needs.
