Traditional strategy about the fault diagnosis always puts all thoughts on the identification of the fault location and its accuracy. Few systems associate the fault with the cause of fault occurring. This paper presents a structure of the fault diagnosis system aided for the power system operating, which diagnoses whether the lightning strokes the fault or the surrounding circumstances affect the grid operation. The system structure not only has extensibility for the intelligent algorithms, but also meets the requirements of information security. Validation demonstrates that the system with the environment monitoring is effective for the fault diagnosis and analysis.
