This study investigates the benefit of terrestrial data in regional focusing strategies for recovery of the earth’s gravity field from new satellite missions. The use of terrestrial data in a space-localizing approximation technique is discussed in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space. A simulation study reveals the characteristics of combined gravity field solutions as compared to satellite-only solutions.
