The objective of this first study is to test the epistemic inconsistency management model (EIMM) which aims to predict the type of regulation used by the individual after an inconsistency as a function of the parameters of the inconsistency situation. We examine the 3 identified parameters of EIMM ; (1) reliability of the contradictory information; (2) the certainty and (3) the importance of the initial expectation, to assess their effect on the choice of the regulation strategy (defensive vs non-defensive strategies).
