Parema kattuvuse saavutamiseks on vaja pikemat mõõtmisperioodi. Lisaks võib töö tulemusest järeldada, et PEST programmi on võimalik kasutada SWMM mudeli kalibreerimiseks. Projections of future climate scenarios show that the intensity of short-lasting rainfall in Estonia will increase. Urbanization is also projected to continue, leading toa n increase in the proportion of area that is under impervious ground cover. Such changes in cities lead to an increased risk of flooding in densely populated areas, which increases both economic damage and risks to human life and health. Thus, the design phase is becoming increasingly important, where these potential changes are already being considered. The objectives of this thesis are to design a stormwater basin plan, for which a model of the stormwater system is prepared and the model is calibrated. To achieve the objectives, a pilot site will be analyzed, using ArcMap and ArcCatalog software modules to define the drainage basin and sub-basins. The name of the pilot site is Rummu pilot sit. Rummu pilot site is located on the western side of the Viimsi peninsula. SWMM software is used to build the pilot site´s stormwater system model, which is calibrated using PEST software. Public data sources, data on runoff võlume and precipitation measured in the framework of the LIFE UrbanStorm project, and geodetic survey are used as inputs in the work. The runoff volume modelled by the developed model was compared with the measured volume. The comparison showed that the modelled and measured volumes have poor overlap, but the coefficient of determination (R2 ) showed that the goodness of fit was satisfactory. This can be explained by the fact that many of the model input parameters were obtained using values from read literature that are not unambiguously transferable to the pilot area. In addition, the uncertainty of the results is compounded by the fact that the measured high-intensity rainfall was not likely to fall directly into the drainage basin in the Rummu pilot area, as the measuring stations are further away (3.5 km and 6.5 km). Another uncertainty was the constant measured runoff volume in the system during the dry period, which indicates a high level of groundwater. To obtain better overlap between measured and modelled volumes, the pilot site model was calibrated using PEST software. Based on the sensitivity analysis of the PEST software, the most sensitive parameters were used for further calibration: maximum and minimum infiltration values, Manning’s roughness coefficients and depression storage values. The Manning’s roughness coefficient and the values of the depression storage were further divided into subdivisions. All sub-basins of this pilot area are homogeneous. The calibration efficiency and the overlap between the measured and modelled runoff volumes was quantified using the well-known statistical coefficient of determination R2 and the efficiency coefficient of the Nash-Sutcliffe (NSE) model. The results showed a very good overlap between the modelled and the measured by calibrating the events separately. However, the validation showed a significantly worse result. This result clearly indicates uncertainty in the modelling. A longer measurement period is needed to achieve better overlap. In addition, it can be concluded from the results that the PEST program can be used to calibrate the SWMM model.
