A crop monitoring system at the regional or national level is a fundamental tool for agricultural management by facilitating decision-making processes from the government to the producer level. The implementation of the Biocarbon project in the Orinoquia region of Colombia aims to reduce GHG emissions from the AFOLU sector by incorporating sustainability in land use and deforestation control. To enable the analysis, estimation and reporting processes a Crop Monitoring System is being developed for the AFOLU sector that implements innovative and robust digital processing techniques of optical and radar satellite images in the cloud (Cloud Computing) to ensure the generation of timely and accurate data on the location, extension and change (Land Use, Land-Use Change LULUC) of land cover in the period 2020-2022 associated with 6 productive chains: Rice, Forest Plantations, Oil Palm, Cocoa, Cashew and Agricultural Pastures.
