Polarizer-free imaging (PFI) methods have been proposed to address the problem of polarizer dependency of liquid crystal (LC) lens. PFI can generate images with high contrast, but will also raise the image noise. This paper presents a denoising method specially designed for the images generated by PFI, namely PFI denoising. The Salient noises and image textures can be accurately detected. Different denoising filters are then applied to different image regions. Good performance of PFI denoising is demonstrated by experimental results.
