Two tests have been performed on the polarized proton beam at the Texas A & M cyclotron. The accelerated beam was tested for uniformity of polarization across the beam profile. The uniformity was found to be sensitive to the acceleration history of the beam. The direction of the beam polarization varied by as much as 2° across the beam profile. The polarized beam coming directly from the source was also tested for changes in the beam intensity caused by switching the polarization by 180°. An effect, as large as one part in 10 5 and dependent on the total beam polarization, was found. Possible application to beam polarization measurements is discussed.
