Despite the vast interest towards the reshoring phenomenon over the past years, many of the extant studies have considered only one relocation decision. However, the reshoring alternative was conceptualized as a possible step of a nonlinear internationalization process of manufacturing activities, characterized by repeated readjustments of the firm’s manufacturing footprint through serial offshoring and reshoring decisions. We explore the longitudinal reshoring decisions of a leading Italian company operating in the aluminium window sector to investigate how the firm’s approach to location decisions has evolved in time, in terms of analytical capabilities, decision support tools, and perceived effectiveness of the choice.
