The 18Fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scan that allows to perform molecular imaging in many malignancies including breast carcinoma, is particularly advisable when locally advanced and metastatic disease in breast cancer staging, standard staging methods in case suspicious. However, usage and its role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the differentiation of benign-malignant breast lesions and detection of axillary lymph node metastasis is controversial. The purpose of this review was to evaluate situation of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis of primary lesion and metastatic axillary lymph node in breast carcinoma with the current articles in the literature.
