Test Blanket Modules (TBM) operation shall not impact the ITER machine safety/availability. The monitoring of all the features relevant for the control and safe operation of the systems will therefore be indispensable. Under this perspective, the control and monitoring parameters to be measured in the Helium Cooled Lithium Lead (HCLL) TBM system are summarized and tabulated in this paper. Relevant sensors’ range and operating conditions are indicated. Their environmental and geometrical constraints in the TBM and its systems are reported. The most suitable sensors and/or measuring techniques are then suggested. Required characteristics are checked against off-the-shelf ones, when available, and needed development for their adaptation to the TBM environment is identified.
