The effect of γ-radiation on the work-hardening characteristics of an EPDM/LDPE blend with 30 phr HAF carbon black has been investigated at room temperature. The samples were irradiated to different absorbed doses. Observations of the work-hardening characteristics and fracture were made by subjecting the irradiated samples to increasing tensile load using a conventional type of the tensile testing machine. Measurements were made at a constant rate of extension. The dependence of the parabolic work-hardening coefficient χ p , fracture stress σ f , ductility ϵ f , yield stress σ y and elastic modulus E on irradiation dose were investigated. The results are attributed to the effect of the complex cross-linked structure induced by irradiation.
