When entrepreneur Fatina Salaheddine in February 2002 launched 'Al-Sahafa', a free monthly newspaper covering Northeast Ohio's Arab-American community, she vowed to focus on people, not politics. The state of the world hasn't made keeping that vow easy. Although 'Al-Sahafa,' is heavy on coverage of events in the Arab-American community, religious listings and news of Arab celebrities, the English-language paper has not shied away from tackling tough issues related to the war in Iraq and the Palestinian-Israeli crisis.
