College graduates in Cleveland, Ohio, are worried about the sluggish job market. Laura Kerns is among those trying to find a job in an employment market that is exceptionally weak according to career advisers at local colleges and universities. Kerns, a graduate from Cleveland, Ohio-based Cleveland State University, with a bachelor's degree in anthropology, has been looking for a job from April to June 2003, but remains unemployed, though she is considering a few offers in jobs outside her field. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, from January to June 2003, the economy has eliminated more than 300,000 jobs. Advisers say because of the slow job market, students' personal networking via internships, career fairs and alumni connections has gained popularity, while reliance on job postings or job leads on the Internet is unpopular among those seeking jobs.
