The present systematic review (SR) aimed to evaluate the scientific literature regarding the genotoxicity induced by mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). A search of the scientific literature was conducted on Web of Science, PubMed and Scopus for all kinds of manuscripts for all data published until March, 2023. All types of experimental studies was considered in the present study according to the PRISMA-P guidelines. GRADE tool was used to detect the quality of evidence of the SR. A total of 16 studies were included in the review being 15 in vitro and one in vivo. After proper judgment, four studies were considered moderate and 12 were considered strong. The meta-analysis data did not reveal a statistically significant difference between the MTA and the negative control. This review was not able to demonstrate that MTA induced genotoxicity.
