The article focuses on a study being conducted by Marina Alonso, a graduate student at the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre (NWGIC), on the effect of composts on grapevine disease suppression. She examined the impact of composts and mulches on the microbial populations living in the vine rootzone from two vineyard trial sites in South Australia. She applied two types of grape marc compost she developed to the under-vine rows at the Charles Sturt University vineyard, Wagga Wagga.
