The article discusses the benefit of the method of minimum calculated effective modal bandwidth to enhance the 10-Gigabits Ethernet (GbE) reliability of laser-optimized multimode fiber. Fiber bandwidth measurement techniques have changed to ensure laser-optimized multimode fiber will reliably support 10-GbE transmission. Thus, the serial physical media-dependent wavelength is used for multimode fiber.
