The article provides information on George Frederic Watts' "The Minotaur." It is said that Watts started the work on the painting based on the Greek myth then finished it within 3 hours after reading W. T. Stead's "Pall Mall Gazette." However, it is claimed that the conception and inspiration for the painting directly came from Stead's first article in the gazette, in which he compared the nightly sacrifice of virgins in London, England to the victims of the Athenian tribute to the Minotaur.
