Spot blotch is a devastating disease of wheat caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana. The present investigation aimed to identify the resistant sources in indigenous bread wheat genotypes against spot blotch of wheat. A set of 188 wheat accessions were evaluated against spot blotch under net-house and field conditions. The mean disease severity at the seedling stage ranged from 10.89 to 96.30% in wheat genotypes. Among all bread wheat genotypes, only five were moderately resistant, seven were moderately susceptible, 31 were susceptible and 153 were highly susceptible. None of them were found to be resistant and immune to the disease. IC321889, IC619432, IC619435, IC260894, and IC589295 were the five genotypes found to be moderately resistant to spot blotch disease under net house conditions. Whereas, under field conditions, seven were found to be moderately resistant, nine were moderately susceptible at field conditions, 35 were susceptible, 145 were highly susceptible, and none of them were found to be resistant and immune to the disease. Seven genotypes viz., IC321889, IC619432, IC619435, IC346060, IC260894, IC589295, and IC145983 were found moderately resistant to spot blotch disease under field conditions. The mean disease severity at the adult plant stage ranged from 11.11 to 100% in bread wheat genotypes. The AUDPC values of all the genotypes screened at adult stage ranged from 56.17 in IC145983 genotype to 1400 in IC398273, IC398299, IC398300, IC598659, IC266847, IC362213, IC252355, IC260866, IC396611, IC265316, IC426359 genotypes. In conclusion, there is a continuous need to identify new resistant sources against spot blotch.
